I love all my pets, but Slyther's one of a few that are especially special to me. She was an adult female western plains garter snake, Thamnophis radix haydeni, caught here in North Dakota and kept for many years....

Pretty Blurry, Pretty Snake
Slyther is dehydrated, but otherwise she's in excellent condition. I haven't seen her in 14 months. It is pronounced and spelled "garter snake", NOT "garden snake" or "gardner snake".
